A Letter to my Replacement, Take 2
M,
I made my last letter too flowery. I wrote that before I got brutally honest about my ex. This is what I have to say to you:
You are not safe. You are in danger of being physically and mentally abused.
This is my advice to you. If you insist on staying where you’re at, never let them get jealous. Don’t talk about your husband. Don’t talk about your past.
If they’re drinking or smoking, stay sober. Stay smart. If they get aggressive, just let them yell. Don’t try to be heard until they’re calm.
Make sure they get enough sleep. Make sure they don’t have to change their plans. Make sure the house is clean. You don’t have a kid, so you’re probably safe there. After the first few weeks, don’t ask them for sex, deep conversations, or anything that will make them feel vulnerable.
And please…if they do get volatile, get out. Don’t stick around and think it was a one time thing.
Sincerely,
The woman who thought it was a one time thing
