Flying Monkeys!
When you left your abuser, did you have mutual friends or family members all the sudden reaching out to you? Did they all of the sudden seem overly concerned and ask questions like:
“where are you staying?”
“Do you think you’ll come back?”
“How long will you be gone?”
“Does your child ask for them?”
Etc?
Did you have people sending you messages about how much your abuser misses you like:
“They regret what happened but don’t know how to fix it.”
“They cry every time your son comes up in conversation.”
“Try to remember how you felt about them in the beginning!”
Etc?
These are flying monkeys. As you can guess, the name comes from the minions of the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz. These people are sent by your abuser to do their dirty work and keep their hands clean. They will get information from you to deliver back to your abuser. They will try to convince you to reach out. They will guilt you. All while your abuser stays quiet.
The best thing to do with these people is block them. They can offer you no value on your healing journey.
